-00:50

(audio of UN debate).. France and Russia oppose US plan.. Sharon meets Bush in DC.. Dubya says.. Israel threatens Lebanon over water use.. Ivory Coast update.
-06:30 Dennis: drumbeat for war continues.. now w award winning British journalist, Robert Fisk.. Robert: It feels safe in Beruit, but I'm sure it's not.. about the bombing in Bali.. Iraq has nothing to do with Bali, or Afghanistan.. I think it was done by Al-Quada, an offshoot of Al-Quada (was it?).. they would have known that most of the victims would be Australian.. Australia the first to support Bush's new war.. young innocent civilians are the target, and they were meant to be.. but no claim of responsibility.. Dennis: the US to put a military commander in charge of Iraq?.. Robert: they no doubt could.. victors are always praised in this part of the world.. but afterwards.. Iraq would break apart in civil war.. the Hussein family would be hanged.. anarchy, drug barons, civil war.. what is America really doing?.. to remake the map of the Middle East.. Dennis: Israel a partner in this war.. Sharon says they are ready to strike.. Robert: The Nation magazine.. naming the Israeli lobby group members in the US administration.. no difference in language and intent.. WHY IS IT NECESSARY FOR US TO FOLLOW ISRAEL IN THE MIDDLE EAST?.. WHY NOT FOLLOW A POLICY OF JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST?.. WHY CONSTANTLY PUSH FORWARD ISRAEL'S POLICIES?.. THE US IS NOT A STATE OF ISRAEL.. BUSH IS NOW THE VOICE OF ARIEL SHARON.. SHARON THE VOICE OF BUSH.. US SHOULD BE AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY.. Bush demanding democracy in Iran.. its elections are at least fair.. the Iranian president at least won a majority of the votes.. unlike Bush.. why are we talking like this?.. IN THE US ADMINISTRATION SO MANY PERSONALITIES LOCKING INTO THE ISRAELI VIEWPOINT.. I AM TIRED OF ALL ARAB DICTATORS, INCLUDING ARAFAT.. GO BACK TO PRESIDENT WILSON, HIS FAMOUS 14 POINTS.. THE AMERICANS HAVE NEVER FOLLOWED UP ON THE WILSON POINTS, THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.. WENT TO ITS DOOM BECAUSE THE MAJOR POWERS.. DISREGARDED IT.. LIKE BUSH THREATENS TO DO TO THE UN NOW.. WE WILL BRING ON OURSELVES A NEW WORLD WAR.. WE COULD CREATE A WORLD BASED ON HONESTY, FAIRNESS, AND DECENCY.. AN UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR AMERICA, BUT THEY ARE NOT DOING IT.. A GREAT, GREAT TRAGEDY FOR AMERICA AND FOR THE WORLD. -20:50 Dennis: great new documentary, Unprecedented, The 2000 Presidential Election (public reaction in Florida).., about the Florida stealing of the US 2000 election.. now w producers, Richard Perez, and Joan Sekler (sp?).. no review this segment.. Spanish law permitted Spanish courts to indict any perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity..

-00:00 Dennis Bernstein: introduction: interview w Michael Parenti on the real reasons US wants to attack Iraq.. plus more of Unprecedented, The 2000 Presidential Election, the new documentary on the stealing of the US presidential election..
-00:50
Robert Knight and the Knight Report.. Robert: Ivory Coast fighting continues, largest coco producing nation.. Arafat seeks to re-assert command over Gaza Hamas.. fighting between Hamas and PLO.. Ariel Sharon preparing for his trip to Washington.. Iraqi voters *re-elect* Saddam Hussein, with near 100% of the vote.. Ari Flescher..
-05:02 Dennis: war on Iraq seems like a foregone conclusion.. oil companies salivating.. why Iraq, why now?.. now w Michael Parenti, author of To Kill A Nation and The Terrorism Trap.. (order from Cody's Online).. Michael: originally Saddam was one of our boys.. put in place by the CIA to destroy democracy in Iraq and attack Iran.. he was our boy.. then he raised prices.. the US oil boys don't have a drop of Iraq's oil.. if the US goes in, it will be one of the biggest oil grab in history.. second reason: US to be the only superpower, and no country goes it's own way.. before 1991, Iraq had the highest standard of living in the Middle East.. had both oil and water.. Iraq could have emerged as regional power.. not to be permitted by US.. like Yugoslavia.. everything privatized, everybody poor.. turning these countries into little impoverished third world.. third reason: ^^^^^.. about depleted uranium and high cancer rates.. another war on Iraq, who's going to be killed?.. women, children, old men, grandmas, young women.. and there have been bombings practically every week.. Bush has closer relations with the bin Laden family than Saddam does.. the reasons that Bush is laying out are not true.. another fact dropped down the memory hole: US gave biological and chemical weaponry to Iraq.. US taxpayers paid for Saddam's buildup.. about the totally fabricated story of 500 babies ripped off incubators during the Iraq assault on Kuwait.. war is good for the economy.. auto accidents are good for the economy, too, but.. there is no *rogue* state that has the aggressive history of the US.. Dennis: US has even used nuclear weapons against their own species.. Michael: Connie Chung asked a California congressman, you mean you don't believe the president?.. like religious faith.. we're supposed to put our faith in GW Bush?.. swallowing propaganda like children.. the media is terrible on this issue.. they haven't reported on the massive demonstrations in Europe.. or reported on protests here.. and they haven't reported the facts we're talking about here. -22:50 music break

-00:42 Dennis Bernstein: the US engaged in secret testing of germ warfare agents on American, Puerto Rican, and British civilians.. now w Puerto Rican activist Robert Rabin, just released from six months imprisonment for protesting the US Navy's bombing of the populated Puerto Rican island of Vieques.. Robert: they were shelling over our heads.. we were arrested and imprisoned.. six months sentence, maximum for trespassing.. in solitary confinement.. put in the 'hole'.. San Juan area.. about the illegal prison restrictions.. Dennis: about the using of Puerto Ricans as guinea pigs for chemical warfare agents.. Robert: the announcements have created great concern here.. old people's stories about spraying being retold.. the US Navy itself admitting the testing.. Freedom of Information Act request forthcoming.. we are continuing to push for this information.. has created a new level of indignation in Vieques.. ironic that Bush wants to attack Iraq for similar crimes.. the people affected are poor indeginous people.. in parts of Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico.. a population of 9,000 people on Vieques.. the breezes here come directly from the Navy drop zones.. directly to the civilian area.. Dennis: the cancer rates show higher than typical.. Robert: about the Vieques fishermen arrested and imprisoned..
a process of genocide against the people of Vieques.. 30% higher cancer rate.. no factories, no cars.. but people live downwind from the bombing range.. more info contact The Committee for the Rescue and Development of Vieques at their website, ViequesLibre.org or call 787-741-0716

Florida governor Jeb Bush, brother to GW.. excerpts from a sterling new documentary, Unprecedented, The 2000 Presidential Election.. about the 'problems' in Florida.. a pastich of Florida voters testimonies.. narrated by John Forsythe.. about the 'felon purge list'.. Katherine Harris head of Florida of Elections.. loose matches 'ok'ed.. only 33 of 690 purged in one county were actually felons.. a Florida Department of Elections lawyer reportedly said 'we want a lot of false positives'.. no letters send to the 'guilty'.. -00:00 Dennis Bernstein: introduction: Palestinian philosopher Marwan Bishara on the perils facing the Middle East; Starhawk leads protests at the SF Federal Building and Diane Fein$tein's office; more excerpts from The Trials of Henry Kissinger -00:48 Dennis: lots of people camped out at the SF Federal Building last night in protest.. now w Starhawk: I'm here in front of DiFi's office.. a tussle with the police to get into the lobby.. they arrested an old man uninvolved with the protest.. we're here to protest Di's vote to support Bush's war powers against Iraq.. we were at the Federal Building all night, took over the plaza, had singing drumming all night.. this morning we shut down the Federal Building for three hours.. a lot of people trying to get in.. two, three hundred office workers.. some supportive, some angry.. 40 people arrested.. (Global Exchange report) -04:00 Dennis: clear there will be two killing fields, one in Iraq, two in Palestine.. US to give Israel three days notice before it attacks Iraq.. meanwhile violence against the Palestinians increasing.. Marwan Bishara (Counterpunch) is Researcher at L'Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, lecturer at the American University of Paris, author of Palestine/Israel: Peace or Apartheid?.. review1.. review2.. (order from Cody's Online), brother of Azmi Bishara, elected Knesset member facing charges.. Marwan: about my brother, charged under a terrorist act.. he has never shot a gun.. Israel must be a democratic state.. and supports the Palestinian right to resist occupation.. Azmi is leading a civil rights movement in Israel regardless of their race, that is his real crime.. Israel is pushing the Pals to one of two ends: one: to give up and leave Palestine, or face a total war.. Dennis: the linkage is clear, Israel and US are in this together.. -13:20 Dennis: your sense of what will happen in Palestine if, when the US invades Iraq?.. Marwan:I'm amazed that US people have no idea what occupation means, what segregation means, what curfews, house arrest means.. universities destroyed, computer center destroyed, the social fabric destoyed.. information.. LIKE GHOSTS LIVING IN THEIR HOMELAND, IMPRISONED GHOSTS.. ISRAEL IS SAYING STILL NOT ENOUGH.. ISRAEL IS CLEARLY A JEWISH COLONIAL STATE, NOT A DEMOCRACY.. Israel feels it has to complete its ethnic cleansing.. already 2/3 of Palestinians are outside their homeland.. we hope the Palestinians will hold on with their nails.. they will not leave.. there will be massacres.. See Marwan Sunday 10am to 9PM at the Arab Cultural Center, 9th and Irving Golden Gate Park, great food, music.. Dennis: is there a hope for peace?.. where can this go?.. Marwan: there are 9 million people living in historical Palestine, half Palestinians, half Jews.. there must be separation immediately or the araptheid will go on.. the hope is separation today, or integration tomorrow.. they will either have to live together in one state, or separately in two states.. war does not lead to peace.. America should behave like a superpower.. the last thing we need in this world, is for America to behave like an Israel.. we need for America to behave like a democracy.. we cannot afford the Israelisation of America.. -22:00 music break Dennis: more excerpts from the great new documentary, The Trials of Henry Kissinger (BBC review) (Yahoo review)..

Alex: we were inspired by Christopher Hitchins work.. Chile, the assassination of Salvador Allende and the rise of Pinochet.. the invasion of East Timor, more.. on 9/11 an article in the Washington Post, overlooked in the day's tragic events., the article was about a lawsuit filed against Kissinger by the son of the late General Schneider of Chile.. the general was murdered by the CIA at the behest of Kissinger.. Dennis: about Vietnam, and the bombing of Cambodia.. Kissinger was an aide to Lyndon Johnson.. close to a peace deal.. Kissinger underminded the peace agreement to ensure four more years of employment (with Nixon).. a cynical underhanded ploy to engratiate himself with Nixon.. about the bombing of Cambodia.. What GW Bush Wants Us To Forget by Robert Fisk.. Forget the 14 Palestinians, including the 12-year-old child, killed by Israel a few hours before Mr Bush spoke, forget that when his aircraft killed nine Palestinian children in July, along with one militant, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon – described the slaughter as "a great success". The following inspirational piece by new paradigm author, Marianne Williamson, excerpted from her book, "A Return to Love" and quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural address: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light--not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves--who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous ? Actually, who are you--not to be ? You are a child of God. Your playing small-- doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking, so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. We are liberated from our own fear; our presence automatically liberates others.
"The attitude of great poets is to cheer up slaves and horrify despots" ...Walt Whitman
My heart rouses
thinking to bring you news
of something that concerns you
and concerns many men. Look at
what passes for the new.
You will not find it there
but in despised poems.
It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack of what is found there.
-- William Carlos Williams
