(newslink1).. 12 Kuwaitis, 2 Brits and 2 Aussies.. prisoners not charged with any crime.. not allowed to talk to an attorney.. interrogated, tortured, emotionally abused at the whim of the US military.. Kristine: the families of the prisoners at wits end.. Joe about the Alice in Wonderland logic of the US courts.. we are asking the court that there is jurisdiction somewhere.. Kristine: we're willing to take this all the way to the Supreme Court.. Joe this is an unprecedented situtation.. un-uniformed Viet Cong given POW status.. Kristine: we have always followed the rule of law in every war.. Joe the government has the right to interrogate prisoners of war, but not to hold them indefinitely.. Kristine: what goes around comes around.. US soldiers, citizens could be held in the same way by another country.
-09:16 Leslie: Flashpoints listeners have heard from Kathy Kelly for years.. now w Nathan of Voices in the Wilderness.. the latest fine is $20,000.. against Kathy and Voices.. Reverend Mullins and Bert.. fined $10,000.. for delivering medicine to Basra.. US accuses us of going to Iraq *without permission* and delivering medicine without permission.. we're not going to pay the fines.. yesterday a press conference in Chicago.. asking people to join us.. info at VITW.org 773-784-8065 -12:48 music break -14:32 Dennis: about the use and dangers of depleted uranium (DU) (link3).. now w Doug Rocke, the US's foremost expert on DU.. Doug: I'm a combat veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm.. a US physician for twenty years.. at the end of the ground war in Iraq, I was put in charge of DU cleanup.. Dennis: you have been made sick by exposure?.. Doug: first we were in charge of disposal of Iraq chemical agents.. the US blew up the known stores of bio and chemical weapons.. blew back on our own troops (details many toxic and hazardous materials).. finally DU.. US fired over 250 tons of DU munitions.. I became ill within 72 hours of beginning to clean up the DU.. toxic heavy metal, radiologic poisoning.. when we blew the munitions, all the alarms went off.. but the alarms were ignored.. the first acknowledged use of DU was by the Israelis in the Sanai in 1973.. in the Gulf War we fired over a million rounds.. each round is 3/4 pound of solid uranium.. warthog aircraft.. a tank round is 10 pounds of solid uranium.. we left 350 tons of DU waste scattered all over the Middle East.. when a DU shell hits a target.. explodes, burns, poisons, kills.. an awesome weapon.. vaporizes too.. uranium dust and gas.. the radius for (70 yards) around a contaminated target.. US military says six inches of dirt must be scraped out for 150 feet around each vehicle.. and all the metal shrapnel must be collected.. children are picking millions of these rounds up and playing with them.. we know our soldiers were picking them up.. about the lack of medical care for US veterans.. Gulf War Syndrome.. but only a handfull of the ill vets have received care.. and none of the Iraqi civilians have ever received help.. Congressman McDermott verified contamination remains.. millions of people affected.. 159,000 US soldiers have received disability benefits.. 15,000 soldiers dead.. *continuous retaliation*.. if you speak up and tell the truth about DU.. you are violating Los Alamos memo says to lie.. DU is too important a weapon.. used in the Balkans.. Vieques, Puerto Rico.. I've been to Vieques, spoke to doctors, the same health problems as I'm having.. the Navy said "NO, you can't clean up the DU here".. the US cannot acknowledge that they have violated law.. willfully.. in Maryland, Indiana, Nevada, New Mexico, and on and on.. the purpose in war is to kill.. the best weapon to kill is DU.. but the military refuses to deal with the health and enviromental consequences.. they scapegoat the victims too.. call soldiers liars, and malingerers.. my team members very sick, even denied medical care, bleeding on the floor of the VA.. General Schwartzkoff.. assigned me director of the DU cleanup.. but when I reported what I had found.. I became personna non grata.. DU used in Afghanistan.. the Canadians verified it.. the US denies.. Dennis: your phone sounds strange.. are you being surveilled?.. Doug: I have had military officers come up to me and tell me to stop.. my house has been shot into.. my phones just die.. recieve computer viruses from military email.. about Iraq.. this is all about oil.. we know what weapons Saddam has, we gave them to him.. God bless Scott Ritter.. the inspection program is irrelevant, the US is going in.. the Gulf War one the largest friendly fire incidents in history.. the acknowledged casualty rate (VA) of Desert Storm, more than 200,000 US soldiers.. unless you physically remove all the DU dust and metal, it will remain.. makes water and food unusable.. what gives the US the right to take poison and throw into someone's backyard, and do nothing to correct it?.. a crime against God, a crime against humanity.. we knowingly contaminated water and soil.. a report.. the Regal Committee.. Dennis: hundreds of alarms were going off.. a total toxic battlefield.. troops still getting sick.. the US use of DU and the careless destruction of Saddam's biological and chemical weapons.. Dennis: the US getting ready to do it again.. Doug: the US casualty rate in Gulf War One over 200,000 US warriors.. if we do it again, many many more.. nobody can justify the use of DU.. where is that child going to come from, to lead us to peace.. if we poison the youth.. Dennis: are you still a patriot.. Doug: I took an oath to defend the US constitution.. that why I'm working to stop the use of DU.. a military person has an obligation be assure that the orders they are given are just.. about the Declaration of Independence.. sometimes you have to make a committment.. peace begins with me.. DU weapons must be banned.. what if we gave a war and nobody came.. more info: National Gulf War Research Center.. and Trap Rock Peace Center.. the DOD has deleted all our medical research from its website.. the health problems of anyone involved with DU is legendary.. astronomical rates of cancer. -46:26 Mary Bishop: wrapup a big anti-war protest Tuesday 10th Noon 1301 Clay Street Oakland.. in Houston at Post, Oak, and Westhimer..

The following inspirational piece by new paradigm author, Marianne Williamson, excerpted from her book, "A Return to Love" and quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural address: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light--not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves--who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous ? Actually, who are you--not to be ? You are a child of God. Your playing small-- doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking, so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. We are liberated from our own fear; our presence automatically liberates others.
"The attitude of great poets is to cheer up slaves and horrify despots" ...Walt Whitman
My heart rouses
thinking to bring you news
of something that concerns you
and concerns many men. Look at
what passes for the new.
You will not find it there
but in despised poems.
It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack of what is found there.
-- William Carlos Williams
'The theory of a free press is that truth will emerge from free discussion, not that it will be presented perfectly and instantly in any one account.' Walter Lippmann
